An API prototype is a bridge between discovery and development

Building an API based on assumptions is an expensive mistake. If you wait until the backend is fully coded to get feedback, you will likely find that your design does not actually solve the user’s problem. Fixing these gaps late in the process is slow and costly.

I have seen how API prototyping changes the development cycle. Instead of just static mocks, I focus on providing a functional prototype immediately after the initial design. This allows developers to test real workflows and validate the developer experience before we write a single line of production code.
