An API is a business model, not just a technical interface

Too many teams think about monetization as an afterthought once the API is popular. This leads to awkward pricing changes that alienate existing users. If you don’t know the value of your data, you can’t price it correctly.

I have helped companies turn their internal tools into revenue streams. I’d focus on identifying the value units that align with the user’s business goals early in the design.
